So I’m not going to lie – I’m not a huge fan of cats. I have always loved dogs, and while I don’t hate cats – I don’t really mind them. What is weird however is how the freaks on both sides of the house animal pet wars tend to get a little weird when it comes to social media, whether they create a “hilarious” Facebook page for their pug, or blog about what their cat did in the living room after dinner. There are always some exceptions however, like Grumpy Cat, and Beethoven – the ginormous, crime stopping dog, not the musician, but that’s about it, and I mean throughout the entire history of cats and dogs (Benji just missed the cut, sorry pooch). There is however a newcomer to the list, and his name is BaneCat. Folks, this is a must-see cat video, which is something you will probably never ever ever see me write on SQ ever again. Ever.
The Signal Movie Trailer
Raise your hand if this kind of movie sounds appealing to you: Sci-fi, Laurence Fishburne, and lots of M-4’s (that’s AR’s for all my civilian counterparts out there). No, this isn’t another Battle for Los Angeles – which was a great movie nonetheless – or even another Starship Troopers Redux. The name of this intriguing Summer 2014 potential blockbuster is The Signal, and the exciting trailer above gives us enough information to want more, but not enough to truly know what we’re, or Nic, the main character is dealing with. As a huge fan of sci-fi, as well as Mr. Fishburne’s acting resume – not to mention M-4’s! – The Signal looks like it has potential to be an awesome film. Want the specific release date and more details on the plot? Of course you do – hit the link below for more.
Deconstructed Game Controllers
Now this is pretty neat. While many of us have likely already peered inside some of our favorite game controllers growing up, it probably wasn’t due to taking them carefully apart with a screwdriver – so what if we’ve all smashed a few in a fit of rage? That’s totally normal, plus you couldn’t save in pretty much any video game back in the 80’s, so what else were we supposed to do? I digress. Hit the link below for all the deconstruction photos, and see if you can correctly identify which system each controller belongs to; if you can’t, you were likely born in the 90’s. Oh, and I’ll help all you young bloods out a little by putting them in chronological order, with the oldest ones first. And GO!
Dear Pixel People, I’m Moving On
For the past year here at SQ we have highlighted some of our favorite, and the mobile gaming industry’s favorite iOS games, from Ridiculous Fishing (2013 GOTY award winner) to Mutant Mudds. One game that we have not mentioned however, is a dangerously addictive title called Pixel People. Released almost a year ago on January 31st, 2013, Pixel People is a very cool cross between Sim City and The Sims, and has garnered an immense following on the App Store with some excellent reviews. Is it a great game? Yes, phenomenal even – but I had to recently banish it from my iPhone for one huge reason with the game’s design. It was a sad day, but a necessary one. Hit the linkage below for the full break-up letter.
Ridiculous Fishing: 2013 iPhone Game of the Year
If you still haven’t heeded our advice in regards to Ridiculous Fishing, which was just recently awarded Apple’s prestigious 2013 Game of the Year award, what in the world are you waiting for? Allow me to emphasize the fact that more than seven months since we first posted about the ridiculous awesomeness that is Ridiculous Fishing, we are still playing and enjoying this game. Hit the link below for more on the award, as well as for details on which title brought home the iPad Game of the Year hardware.

Archer Danger Zone Music Video
I still meet people who have not watched Archer, or maybe a better way to phrase it – I have still met people who haven’t even heard of Archer. Can you believe it? What’s that? You have no idea what show I’m talking about? Yes, it’s a television show; it airs on FX, and the next season is coming in two months this January. If you like sarcasm, voice-overs from Saturday Night Live actors (from when that show was actually good), and James Bond-type spy/secret agent stuff, then Archer is right up your alley. It is absolutely hilarious, and one of my favorites; the next season cannot come soon enough. As a teaser for the upcoming season, FX just released the hilarious music video spoof you see above from the movie Top Gun’s most-memorable soundtrack tune, Danger Zone. This is a must-see, and so is Archer this coming January.
Britney Spears Breaking Bad Bitch Remix Video
I may be the only person on the planet who has not watched AMC’s award-winning “Breaking Bad”, but not because I don’t want to – the show is next up on my Netflix Digital personal-catch-up-marathon list, and I’m excited. Although I’m not a fan of Britney Spears’ music, her new song “Work B**tch” goes along quite nicely with Aaron Paul’s character on Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman, tends to say quite often, and with varying amounts of enthusiasm.

Will Farrell Harry Caray Ho Hey Spoof Video
Growing up in Chicago without cable television, WGN was one of the few channels we had that was actually worth watching: where else could I watch Bloodsport three times a week and still catch a White Sox game live? Yes, I am a White Sox fan, but I am indifferent when it comes to the playoffs – in other words, as long as someone from Chicago wins it I’m happy. That being said, I did watch plenty of Cubs games growing up with the real Harry Caray behind the mic, and he was hilarious; I can’t tell you how many times I heard him call a routine fly ball “outta heyuh!” only it to land ten yards shy of the warning track. The “ice-cold Budweiser” was always flowing in the WGN booth, and who better to impersonate the legend than another legend in Will Ferrell. We all know and love Will’s SNL Harray Caray skits, but this is a gem of a spoof from earlier this year that is great to re-live: Will Farrell’s Harry Caray spoofed over the Lumineer’s “Hey Ho” sound. Must-see TV!

Telekinetic Coffee Shop Surprise Video
Yes, this is all staged, but this is an absolute must-see video. Posted just 48-hours ago, the hilarious-yet-you-damn-well-know-you’d-have-a-heart-attack-if-you-saw-it-live Telekinetic Coffee Shop Surprise prank video has already racked up nearly 20 million views on YouTube; if that isn’t enough to get you to watch this video, then I just feel sorry for you. Like really, really sorry. Just watch it. More great funny & scary videos to come. After all, Halloween is just around the proverbial corner!
Drone Videos: Meet the WildCat from Boston Dynamics
Now how cool is this beast? Having worked with a few different drones from my recent time in the Marine Corps, I can definitely vouch for the huge value they bring to the battlefield; on that same token however, many of them also have significant shortfalls. Although drones are making the biggest impact from the skies at this point, robots on the ground have been a huge help in the fight against IED’s (CIED). Boston Dynamics has been at the forefront of ground-based robotics for the US military, and that four-legged gentleman who you see above is their latest and greatest creation: his name is WildCat, and you do not want to be in front of him when he starts a chargin’. Check out the video, then hit the link below for our thoughts on if this guy is battlefield ready yet.

Business of Gaming: Meet Andrew Wilson, New EA CEO
The chief executive office is a position that gets a lot of flak, especially from those who haven’t really ventured into, or truly understand how the world of business, or leadership for that matter, really works. They either choose not to, or simply can’t comprehend just how much responsibility and pressure sits on the CEO’s shoulders, and how much like every other leadership position, the work day doesn’t end when you go home for dinner. You live and breathe the position, and you are always under the gun – internally, and externally as well. Earlier today, gaming giant Electronic Arts, known for some of the biggest gaming franchises known to man, and also known for being one of the “worst gaming companies” (just Google it; that’s a different post in itself), just internally promoted Andrew Wilson to the head seat, and carry the EA flag into the future, and to new heights. So just who is this guy, and probably the biggest question most gamers have on their minds: how much does this dude make? Hit the link below for our full unclassified report.

Blizzard Ending Real Money Auction House in Diablo III
Earlier today, the fine folks from Blizzard’s Diablo III office published a gaming decision that once enacted – set to go in effect on March 18th, 2014 – will finally put a long-discussed, and highly controversial aspect of the game to rest: the gold and real money auction house, which was established this past June, will be shutting its doors and closing its operation for good. Blizzard made their reasoning behind this decision pretty clear, stating “it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot.” Hit the link below for more details, more intriguing quotes from the men and women behind the Diablo curtain, as well as our own, in-house, slightly qualified thoughts!
