I’m not a fan of gamer stereotypes, although they can seriously make me laugh when they’re in good fun. Probably the biggest gamer stereotype of them all is that gamers are virgins, or that they never have actual girlfriends. Many would label the gamer community as anti-social, or socially awkward folks that never leave their parents basements; one of our all-time favorite movies portrayed this hilariously well (Grandma’s Boy!), and I’d like to point out that could not be further from the truth. At least in our case here at SQ. Regardless, I don’t feel like jumping on the gamer stereotype soap box, because the outstanding funny picture below is just too funny and doesn’t help my argument. I love me a good RTS game. My addiction began with the legendary Command & Conquer series, as I pretended to have the flu in grade school so I could destroy a motherf*cker on Heat.net (you’re probably too young to remember that; I’ll do a feature on it soon) with swarms of Soviet tanks in Red Alert. I was pretty darn good, and my uber C&C skills carried over nicely to just about every other game, until I started playing StarCraft II. Maybe it’s because I don’t have nearly enough time as I used to, or maybe I’m just getting old (30 in t-minus one week), but I am getting absolutely destroyed on multiplayer, specifically by the damn Zerg. Thankfully I am not alone, as it seems to be the one rush that has defined the StarCraft series, much like the 8 Soviet tanks in Red Alert. Although StarCraft fans will truly appreciate the following hilarious Zerg rush funny pics, if you’ve ever been on the receiving end of an RTS multiplayer rush, then you’ll likely get a kick out of these as well. So without further adieu, I present the top 8 Zerg rush funny pics just to remind us all how much we all suck at StarCraft!
This question will make our gamers out there in SQ Nation chuckle out loud; I know I did. There are just too many things that come to mind that you could argue. Profanity? The lack of maturity? Camping? “Your mom” jokes? Lag? I think I could come up with 100 different things that blow orifices about online gaming, and I think you could too. Although I mostly reach for the single player venues currently, via Demon’s Souls and Diablo 3, I do jump into the StarCraft 2 arena pretty frequently, although I’m still learning. Gone are the days when I used to destroy people online in Red Alert, and don’t even get me started about Goldeneye. Hit the link below for a hilarious take on one gamer’s position on what the worst aspect about online gaming is. I think most of us will be able to relate!
The PC gaming community is a stubborn crowd, and I can confidently make that claim because I consider myself part of that cadre of gamers. Although consoles have come an insanely long ways over the last two generations or so to match up with PC’s, there still is a gap in a few ways and genres; the most specific gap in my oh so slightly qualified opinion is in the RTS, or Real-Time Strategy genre. I couldn’t even fathom trying to play Red Alert or Starcraft 2 with a controller; I have got to have a mouse and keyboard or we’re gonna have some issues. Are we understood? But then you’ve got extremely prominent video game industry executives that drop the line-blurring bombs like the PS4 is the “perfect gaming PC”. Say what? Hit the link below for all of the details.
I’ve been historically late to Blizzard games. In the late 90’s, this guy was obsessed with anything on store shelves with a “Command & Conquer” label, so Diablo 1 & 2 never made it on to my hard drive. Once Diablo 3 launched, I decided to buck the trend and grab a digital copy online, only to realize that my laptop may not make it a worthwhile purchase. Bummer. Thankfully, Starcraft 2 is fucking amazing, so I’m pretty happy about that one. Regardless, I’ll be picking up a copy of Diablo 3 for my PS3 the day or week it gets released, which to the best of my knowledge and Interweb research ability is still TBD. The footage looks awesome, and according to Blizzard, it “sizzles”! Hit the link below for the Diablo porn, and stay tuned to SQ for more Diablo 3 goodness!
Have you finished Starcraft II’s campaign yet? No? Well don’t feel bad, because neither have I. Let me clear the air here before I get bombarded with hate mail from the two of you who actually read SQ: I love Starcraft II. Free time has not been on my side as of late, but I fire up SC2 every chance I get, even though I still Continue reading “Starcraft II Expansion in 7 Days”
