Many game publishers would be thrilled after selling 2.7 million copies of their latest title in a month, but Blizzard is not your average video game publisher.  In their latest press release, Blizzard announced some impressive week one sales for their first Diablo III expansion pack, Reaper of Souls, with sales topping an incredible 2.7 million units.  As a proud owner of this excellent expansion pack myself, I couldn’t be happier, and I would argue that it is well-worth the somewhat steep asking price of $40.  That being said, let’s put on our business hats and see what kind of week one revenue the D3 division is staring at!  Hit the link below for the details!

Blizzard Ending Real Money Auction House in Diablo III

Earlier today, the fine folks from Blizzard’s Diablo III office published a gaming decision that once enacted – set to go in effect on March 18th, 2014 – will finally put a long-discussed, and highly controversial aspect of the game to rest: the gold and real money auction house, which was established this past June, will be shutting its doors and closing its operation for good.  Blizzard made their reasoning behind this decision pretty clear, stating “it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot.”  Hit the link below for more details, more intriguing quotes from the men and women behind the Diablo curtain, as well as our own, in-house, slightly qualified thoughts!

Games We Want: The Last of Us – New Footage

Back on April 3rd, which seems like a long time ago (this is our 100th post, believe it or not!), we published an amazing trailer for Naught Dog’s upcoming adventure game, “The Last of Us“, which may look like a new Uncharted, but according to the developers, it’s quite different.  Not like that would be a bad thing, but you know what I mean.  Looking ahead to the near future, “The Last of Us” will hit store shelves on June 14th, and will be an exclusive title for the PS3; sorry Xbox’ers.  Like you needed more depressing news after Monday’s debacle?  Naughty Dog has released brand new demo discs to many of the latest news outlets, which means savory new, HD game play footage that you absolutely must-see.  Did I mention the game play video is more than 15 minutes long?  You’re welcome.

This question will make our gamers out there in SQ Nation chuckle out loud; I know I did.  There are just too many things that come to mind that you could argue.  Profanity?  The lack of maturity?  Camping?  “Your mom” jokes?  Lag?  I think I could come up with 100 different things that blow orifices about online gaming, and I think you could too.  Although I mostly reach for the single player venues currently, via Demon’s Souls and Diablo 3, I do jump into the StarCraft 2 arena pretty frequently, although I’m still learning.  Gone are the days when I used to destroy people online in Red Alert, and don’t even get me started about Goldeneye.  Hit the link below for a hilarious take on one gamer’s position on what the worst aspect about online gaming is.  I think most of us will be able to relate!

First Diablo 3 PS3 Footage Sizzles

I’ve been historically late to Blizzard games.  In the late 90’s, this guy was obsessed with anything on store shelves with a “Command & Conquer” label, so Diablo 1 & 2 never made it on to my hard drive.  Once Diablo 3 launched, I decided to buck the trend and grab a digital copy online, only to realize that my laptop may not make it a worthwhile purchase.  Bummer.  Thankfully, Starcraft 2 is fucking amazing, so I’m pretty happy about that one.  Regardless, I’ll be picking up a copy of Diablo 3 for my PS3 the day or week it gets released, which to the best of my knowledge and Interweb research ability is still TBD.  The footage looks awesome, and according to Blizzard, it “sizzles”!  Hit the link below for the Diablo porn, and stay tuned to SQ for more Diablo 3 goodness!
