First Diablo 3 PS3 Footage Sizzles

I’ve been historically late to Blizzard games.  In the late 90’s, this guy was obsessed with anything on store shelves with a “Command & Conquer” label, so Diablo 1 & 2 never made it on to my hard drive.  Once Diablo 3 launched, I decided to buck the trend and grab a digital copy online, only to realize that my laptop may not make it a worthwhile purchase.  Bummer.  Thankfully, Starcraft 2 is fucking amazing, so I’m pretty happy about that one.  Regardless, I’ll be picking up a copy of Diablo 3 for my PS3 the day or week it gets released, which to the best of my knowledge and Interweb research ability is still TBD.  The footage looks awesome, and according to Blizzard, it “sizzles”!  Hit the link below for the Diablo porn, and stay tuned to SQ for more Diablo 3 goodness!

Bioware Building a New Franchise

The fabled Mass Effect team up in Edmonton (eh, hoser!) is back to work, although this time they’re building an entirely new franchise.  The exciting news came from the team’s Executive Producer, Casey Hudson, who stated the team is “building something new”, and the franchise will be based on “a whole new universe”.  The news dropped just yesterday during a panel at the PAX East games conference in Austin, MA.  Or was it Boston … ?

Someone Sell Me on the PS Vita

Quick, someone sell me on the PS Vita.  Anyone?  Bueller?  After taking a new 9-5 gig this past fall, I have found myself on the road for work as many as three weeks out of the month, meaning I wake up in a Holiday Inn Express (baller!) about 12 times per month on average.  Some may call it depressing, others would also call it depressing.  In reality the job is great, but I miss my PS3 (and my fiance, of course!). I am a pretty stubborn handheld gamer however, as the only system that I have ever stuck with was the original Nintendo Game Boy.  For those of you reading this at the local Applebee’s after getting shot down for attempting to sneak into that rated-R movie tonight, I’m talking about the old school, black and white Game Boy that was about the size of a brick.  The Game Boy with the color screen?  That was still a few years out in my day.  My only other foray into handheld gaming was the Sony PSP, which I actually owned on two occasions.  My dilemma then is the same issue I put forth to you today: is the Vita worth it?  Much like the Vita, the PSP had so few worthy games that justified the hefty purchase price.  Once I beat the only good games in the library, and there was nothing new on the release list, it was back on the used hardware shelf at GameStop faster than you could comment below on how awesome my Photochop is.  Welcome to SQ btw.

Oblivion Movie Trailer

No, this has nothing to do with the popular video game series from Bethesda (which I could never really get into; first-person RPG’s and me usually don’t mix), but it does look like it will be pretty stellar.  On April 19th, Tom Cruise is back on the big screen alongside Morgan Freeman and former-Bond girl Olga Kurylenko in what looks to be a very cool, post-apocalyptic, fight-for-Earth, sci-fi thriller.

No this is not based on the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion role playing game, but it does look pretty awesome if you enjoy a good sci-fi thriller.  Starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, and former-Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, the film is set well into a post-apocalyptic future on earth as Tom Cruise attemps to figure out where he remembers his past, fights off what appears to be an always impressive alien counter-attack, and put the moves on Olga with his special forces, “operator special”, Yankees baseball hat.  Oblivion lands in theaters in less than thirty days on April 19th; enjoy the trailer, and let us know what you think in the comments below!

The Internship Movie Trailer

If I could Fandango me some tickets to this tonight, I would.  In other words, on June 7th, your butt had best be planted in your local theater’s seats to watch the premiere of The Internship, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.  You know how some times you watch a trailer and absolutely know that the movie will follow through and rock once you finally do see it?  Taken was like that for me (and probably all of America), and The Internship gave me that same feeling: this movie is going to be awesome.

All my X-Men fans will really appreciate the trailer as well!

After Earth Movie Trailer

Will Smith is back for his next Summer blockbuster in After Earth, but this time he’s brought his son along for the ride.  Say what you will about the actual films, but Will Smith Summer movies always do well at the box office.  And while a few in recent memory have been mediocre, they have all been entertaining.  I don’t think anything will ever top Independence Day, but you never know.

Enjoy the trailer, and check out After Earth in theaters on June 7th, 2013.

MLB 13 The Show with Buster Posey

Playstation has the best commercials, period.  Kevin Butler carried the Sony flag for a while, and has some priceless commercials that are still funny to watch on YouTube.  This new guy Sony has plugged into its new MLB 13 The Show commercials is arguably just as good with what we’ve seen so far; I am definitely looking forward to more commercials with this guy in the future!

My favorite quote: “You’re a video game.”

The Hangover 3 Official Trailer

Get excited.  The wolf pack returns to Las Vegas, and movie screens around the world on May 24th, 2013.  Personally I thought the sequel was sub par, but I think everyone’s expectations were sky high after the epic intro.  Legendary comedic director/writer Todd Phillips made the write choice by setting the trilogy’s conclusion back where where it should be: Sin City.

Check out the trailer below, and drop some of your own Hangover stories from Vegas in the comments below!

Demon’s Souls Will Make You Touch It

Demon’s Souls is the shit.  Yes, I am aware that this game has been out for like three years now, but between the Marine Corps, a deployment, moving a few different times and getting my PS3 stolen, and getting engaged, gaming has sadly been put on the back burner.  Demon’s Souls however has always been at the top of my list of games to play, because the insane challenge the game presents flat-out just lured me in.  And lure you in is just what this crazy game does; the designers know how you think, and the way they have set this game up to f*ck you up is pretty genius.

$70 Game Rumor Surfaces; Valve Rejoices

After moving down to Houston, TX, this past Fall, I have already bought a bad ass pair of cowboy boots, and even witnessed (no, experienced) my first rodeo, to include an entertaining round of Mutton Bustin‘.  I also managed to somehow survive the epic Houston DMV (that’s what we Illinoisans call it); let’s just say that if moving to Houston was a video game, the DMV would be the final boss.  No joke.  What I have yet to experience however is a massive event that takes place just two and a half hours to my west in Austin, TX, otherwise known as SXSW, or South by Southwest for my acronym haters out there.  Originally starting as a ginormous music festival, SXSW has now morphed into something bigger with film, gaming, and technology industries setting up shop.  The festival almost always produces a good time, whether you’re lucky enough to attend in person (they do serve beer there), or virtually through the via this fine tool we call the Interweb.  The festivities also produce headlines, as gaming companies and tech startups like to either announce new shit, or simply stir the proverbial pot.  Enter Michael Pachter, who works as a research analyst at Wedbush Securities, who just recently dropped a price point nuclear bomb that has reverberated off the gaming industry’s online message boards like a pin ball.
