Jimmy Fallon Plays Goldeneye 64 with Pierce Brosnan

While I know this video got passed around the Interweb by almost the entire world yesterday – I saw it just when I had to leave for work in the morning, so I wasn’t able to publish it – I just have to make sure this gets thrown up on SQ.  If you’re one of our faithful SQ regulars, you’re probably well aware of my deep affinity for anything Goldeneye; a while back I posted a Goldeneye 64 speed run challenge on 00 Agent (the Aztec bonus level), but still am waiting on a brave challenger.  Goldeneye, just like Jimmy said in the beginning of this awesome video, is hands down one of the best video games of all time, and I would be hard pressed to not drop it in my top three. If you grew up with a Nintendo 64, you likely spent most of your time playing Goldeneye – do not pass up on this video!

Zach Galifianakis and Ken Jeong 1998 Stand-up Video

No, it’s not #TBT (that’s Throwback Thursday there boss), but this one is just too good to wait another 52 hours!  Yesterday we brought you a Zach Galifianakis stand-up video gem from 1999, but today we are going to not only go back one whole year to 1998, but we’re going to add the legendary Ken Jeong – aka Mr. Chow – to the stage.  Yes, you read that right: this is Alan and Mr. Chow 9 years before they would become absolute mega stars with the release of The Hangover.  For the love of all that is funny, do not pass up this video.  Please.

Zach Galifianakis Luna Park Stand Up Video from 1999

Raise your hand if you knew who Zach Galifianakis was before Y2K hit?  Seriously, be honest now – did you?  Most people remember or think of Zach’s first role from the highly underrated movie Out Cold, but that didn’t come out until 2001, when your’s truly was just a freshman in college.  If you guessed The Hangover, well, you’re way off.  Try 1999ish, folks.  Crazy, right?  Well what you’ll find above is the mega-star that is Zach Galifianakis doing stand-up way back in that very year, just before his meteoric rise began to take shape.  The setting is Luna Park in West Hollywood, and I can’t think of a better or funnier way to kick off your Monday morning!

My Name Is John Daker Public Access Video

Who is John Daker you ask?  I’m still asking that very same question, but for now just realize that this dude is now a front page star here at SQ – so he must be popular, right?  Well with nearly half a million views over at YouTube, John Daker appears to be the most popular church singer you’ve never heard of – until today.  As if your Friday morning couldn’t get any more weird!

Watch the Birth of a Tornado Video

Is there anything scarier than a freaking tornado?  Growing up in Illinois I have had my fair share of tornado warnings – I’ve even been driving with my old man on two occasions in which the tornado siren was going off and we had to hide out in gas stations.  While I have never seen a real one in person, the crazy Marine in me wants to … from a safe distance away; I think it would just be a monster rush to see one live, but that’s just me.  This video, folks, is incredible – old, sure, but still incredible.  More after the jump!

What Command & Conquer Taught Me About Business

As I built my outline for this editorial, I nearly halted the piece altogether because of a little known gentleman named Sun Tzu – you may have heard of him.  While The Art of War is sitting on my home office desk’s bookshelf right now, I decided to follow through with this article because while there will be similarities, I am writing this through my own lens – a lens which arguably pulls the worlds of business and war together perfectly through maybe my most beloved gaming series of all-time, Command & Conquer.  While I am still a fanatic of the series, this post could easily be re-titled to encompass the entire RTS, or real-time strategy, game genre since fundamentally they are all pretty much the same.  That being said, as I approach the end of my MBA, and having been in the business world now for nearly six years, I bring you six key tenants that Command & Conquer has taught me about business – there are actually dozens more, but I’ll leave those for the comments!

Shark Week Debunked, The Video

How do you know it’s Shark Week?  My Facebook and Twitter feeds are my yearly reminder, and I think that goes for most other people as well.  While my chances for tuning in to Discovery Channel increase during Shark Week, it’s not a guarantee; I think the last time I actively searched out the Discovery Channel on a one-time basis for as part of a weekly routine was either for a war documentary or when Deadliest Catch first aired, but Shark Week?  Eh, it’s cool, but not stop-what-I’m-watching-or-doing cool.  If you’re with me on your shoulder-shrugging level of excitement for Shark Week, then you will particularly enjoy the above video from Vox that effectively debunks Shark Week, and how crazy it has become over the past few years.  As always more after the jump!

Robin Williams Whose Line Is It Anyway Tribute Video

It’s still hard to believe Robin Williams passed away – I think it will be a long, long time before it really sets in for anyone.  Just after I heard late last night, I thought of some of my favorite movies with Robin in it and thought, “man, what a great career he had.”  It wasn’t but a few minutes later as I read the breaking news on his death that I came across about 10+ more hilarious movies that I loved him in that I had completely forgotten about; Robin easily ranks, and will forever rank as one of the funniest human beings ever to walk the planet.  Since he brought so much laughter to everyone, I can’t think of a better way to honor him then by showing some of his best stuff right here on SQ.  Why you may not have caught him on Whose Line Is It Anyway – an excellent show btw – it was of course yet another gem in his insanely hysterical and accomplished career.  You know you’re doing a good job on Whose Line when you’re not only making the audience laugh, but the entire stand-up crew as well.  Enjoy the video, and we miss you already Robin!

iOS Games We Loved Then Hated: Battleheart Legacy

Not counting the Final Fantasy 8 and 16-bit ports, great role playing games on the iOS platform (iPhone and iPad) are extremely rare – and by rare I mean they just do not exist.  But then I came across Battleheart Legacy, a highly rated iOS RPG sequel from Mika Mobile that turned the downtime on my recent vacation into an amazing mobile gaming experience … until I got to the end of the game.  While BH Legacy is a blast to play, and a pleasant surprise when compared against the rest of the iOS RPG library, there are just too many fatal flaws that sadly makes me never want to pick up this game again.

US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet August 8th ISIS Airstrike Video

Just a few days ago we posted an awesome airstrike video from the Iraq Air Force as they continued their air campaign against advancing ISIS targets, but now after President Obama authorized American airstrikes, we have footage of our own US Navy putting warheads on ISIS foreheads.  The bomber of choice: the highly advanced F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet, courtesy of America’s finest naval service.  Don’t pass on this video folks, and you can be sure there will be more footage like the above to come as ISIS targets continue to get bombarded – that is until they’re all destroyed!  More combat footage and ISIS discussion as always after the jump!

Iraq Air Force Fights Back Against ISIS – Airstrike Video

If you haven’t heard the news yet, President Obama just authorized US airstrikes to not only protect our forces in embattled Iraq, but to target ISIS positions as well “if necessary”.  With ISIS fighters now explicitly targeting Christians – demanding that they “convert or die” – the Iraq situation is now much more than a “situation”; it is actually becoming quite dire.  While I don’t ever foresee our military stepping foot in Iraq again like we did in OIF, I do think special forces will be sent in to assist if they haven’t already.  After all, someone has to coordinate all those airstrikes!  Speaking of airstrikes, the above video is a must see as this footage did not come from American airpower, but rather the Iraqi Air Force.  It’s awesome to see how far along they’ve come; while I was only in Afghanistan, having worked with their army I can definitely relate.  More discussion after the link!

Michigan Man Hosts Party of the Century

If you weren’t in West Michigan this past weekend, then you apparently missed out on the party of the century at this guy’s house.  Having lived in West Michigan, and having experienced some college parties that were well deserving of the “party of the century” award, this video had me absolutely rolling, particularly at the :34 second mark.  I don’t want to spoil it – you simply have to watch it; just like everything here at SQ, you will definitely not be disappointed!
