Epic Speed Run: Dark Souls 2 in Under an Hour and a Half

While you probably don’t have an hour and a half to sit through a video this Monday morning, this incredible speed run video through Dark Souls 2 – the latest installment in a trilogy that ranks as arguably the most challenging video game series since the pre-save your game days – deserves your attention.  While I just recently picked up Dark Souls 2 this past week – my initial thoughts are coming this weekend – I was a huge fan of Demon’s Souls which started this crazy series off, and I’ve also been known to peruse into the world of video game speed runs, although I prefer to stick in the retro arena.  And by retro I mean Goldeneye 64.  More on this crazy speed run after the jump!

Epic Dark Souls 2 Speed Run Video

If you’ve never played Demon’s Souls or either of the Dark Souls titles, you really are missing out.  If you grew up playing video games in the 80’s and 90’s like the SQ creators, then you understand the frustration that existed without being able to save your game.  Sure there are challenging games nowadays – Ninja Gaiden, I still hate you – but nothing, and I mean nothing compares to what the Souls’ trilogy brings to the table.  If you make it all the way to a boss, but die during the fight, guess what?  You’re starting all the way back at the freaking beginning.  Should you die along the way as you fight back to your corpse to pick up all your souls, then all those souls – which is essentially money, btw – are gone forever.  These games are unbelievably frustrating and hard, but if you’re patient and enjoy an insane challenge, the reward for beating these games is just awesome.  That, my SQ friends, is why this speed run is so mind boggling amazing.

If you haven’t tried the Souls’ series yet, you’re missing out.  And as one final plug, if you’ve still got your old N64 running around, I bet you can’t beat my Goldeneye Aztec Challenge.  More great content to follow!
