Odd Gaming Tributes: The Elevator

After more than 160 years since its invention, the elevator remains arguably one of the most socially-awkward environments today.  Everyone stares straight ahead, talking is strictly forbidden, and everyone is hoping in the back of their mind that the lift doesn’t get stuck.  Or that Hannibal Lecter isn’t hiding on top of it.  Gaming has incorporated the awkward, but useful invention since the 1980’s in some very memorable games, such as TMNT: Turtles in Time, and the very first Mass Effect.  So how the heck does an elevator garner its own tribute on SQ?  Well, we labeled it as an “odd” gaming tribute, so we think that justifies the love, however through our nearly twenty some odd years of gaming experience, we’ve come to notice a few awesome trends that all revolve around the epic experience that is the virtual elevator; click that attractive link below for full, scientific results.

Bioware Releases Mass Effect 3 Stats

Mass Effect 3 will stand in the upper echelon of greatest RPG’s of all-time for generations to come, even if Bioware’s next franchise blows it away, and even with an arguably substandard ending.  Yesterday everyone’s favorite game developer released a very cool infographic detailing worldwide Mass Effect 3 player stats, from choices, to general player patterns and trends.  There are a ton of great talking points here, but one really stood out to me.  Caress the link below to check the stats out, and see what caught our Slightly Qualified eye!

Bioware Building a New Franchise

The fabled Mass Effect team up in Edmonton (eh, hoser!) is back to work, although this time they’re building an entirely new franchise.  The exciting news came from the team’s Executive Producer, Casey Hudson, who stated the team is “building something new”, and the franchise will be based on “a whole new universe”.  The news dropped just yesterday during a panel at the PAX East games conference in Austin, MA.  Or was it Boston … ?
