Growing up in Chicago without cable television, WGN was one of the few channels we had that was actually worth watching: where else could I watch Bloodsport three times a week and still catch a White Sox game live? Yes, I am a White Sox fan, but I am indifferent when it comes to the playoffs – in other words, as long as someone from Chicago wins it I’m happy. That being said, I did watch plenty of Cubs games growing up with the real Harry Caray behind the mic, and he was hilarious; I can’t tell you how many times I heard him call a routine fly ball “outta heyuh!” only it to land ten yards shy of the warning track. The “ice-cold Budweiser” was always flowing in the WGN booth, and who better to impersonate the legend than another legend in Will Ferrell. We all know and love Will’s SNL Harray Caray skits, but this is a gem of a spoof from earlier this year that is great to re-live: Will Farrell’s Harry Caray spoofed over the Lumineer’s “Hey Ho” sound. Must-see TV!

On August 9th, rising comedic star Jason Sudeikis will attempt to deliver hundreds of pounds of marijuana across the US-Mexico border for fellow comedian turned billionaire Ed Helms. The movie is called, We’re the Millers, and it also stars Jennifer Aniston who plays a stripper, who goes on to pretend to be Jason’s, err, Mr. Miller’s wife. I’m a big Sudeikis fan, as he’s been one of the few truly funny actors/comedians on SNL over the last few years, but the real steal of the show might just be his fake son, Will Poulter, who looks familiar, but after looking through his IMDB profile I still have no idea where I recognize him from. The end of this trailer is awesome, and this movie looks like it will be a great one!
SNL has been down for years now, so it is truly rare to get a quality episode these days. Those great or even simply good episodes are always centered around a dynamic celebrity host, as the current cast simply lacks true star, comedic power. It seems that as soon as a comedian on the cast emerges, they leave for bigger and better TV deals and/or movies, but who can blame them? Zach Galifianakis, the driving star behind the stellar “Hangover” films, took the SNL helm as host this past Saturday night, and he did not disappoint. Arguably the best skit of the show came as Zach appeared as a contestant on the game show, “Game of Game of Thrones”, with Bill Hader starring as the host. Although it’s no “Celebrity Jeopardy” with Will Ferrell and Darrell Hammond, it had that same feel to it – as well as the laughs.
