I remember back in high school in my very first political science class – I got my undergrad in poli sci as well – having a huge debate about if missile defense systems were worthwhile.  At the time the technology wasn’t quite proven – I’m talking about circa 2000/2001, so 13 or 14 years ago – and the entire argument about how the systems would simply lead to an arms race was heavily held as well.  Today I think it’s safe to say the technology is quite effective, however the argument regarding the arms race matter is still on the table.  The video you are about to see – and I’m not here to take sides on this crazy, eternal conflict – is absolutely insane.  The rocket sirens are numbing, and I’ve been to Afghanistan: can you imagine waking up to that daily living in Israel?  No thanks.  Please do not pass this video up, and be thankful that the country you live in is not in a continual state of domestic war – for those of you over in this mess, stay safe.

Iron Dome Video Intercetps 15 Qassam Rockets at Once from Hamas

Was that not the coolest thing you’ve seen in a while?  If you live in Israel, and are for that side, how could you not see the Iron Dome missile defense system as a positive?  It is clearly saving Israeli lives, and I don’t think the system plays as big a part of an “arms race” instigator say in the case of US missile defense sites in Poland, which Mr. Putin obviously detests.  That’s a different matter, and one that we’re not going to get into here at SQ (entertainment only).  Regardless, this video is insane footage from the ground, and shows just how amazingly accurate the technology has become, even when an incredible 15 Qassam rockets are fired at Israeli positions simultaneously – wow.

We will definitely be on the hunt for more Iron Dome videos, as this was just too freaking cool.  In the meantime we have a metric crap-ton of Afghanistan combat videos, and lots lots more over in our tag cloud to the right. Thanks for stopping by SQ, and have an awesome Tuesday!
